A little about Tonya

I am St. Louis born and raised. I started swimming at the age of 6 after my parents joined a local swim club.  I swam throughout High school (100 Fly & 500 Free) and starting my sophomore year through senior year I also played tennis. (Undefeated varsity doubles team !!)
I started in 2008 by participating in the Lake St. Louis Triathlon as the swimmer on a team. Never swam open water in my entire life! Got hooked and competed in Trail of Tears two weeks later on my mountain bike and didn’t know how to shift. After several local races throughout 2008 & 2009, I signed up for my first Half Ironman Kansas in 2010 before even owning a road bike!  - Kansas 70.3. Since I’ve completed (8)70.3 races. I’ve also completed numerous adventure races including Berryman and Castlewood several times. Other accomplishments:
2014 & 2015 St. Judd Memphis Full Marathon to get over my fear of running a marathon before signing up for a Full IM. 
I hate running but finished my first ultra 50 miler at Tunnelhill in 2016
-Finished first Full Ironman race - 2016 Chattanooga and second full Ironman Louisville 2018.
